EKILED Project Kicks Off in Ulm

  • Date: 21.05.2026
  • All partners of the BMFTR-funded project EKILED—which aims to make AI-based disinformation detection transparent and educationally accessible—came together in Ulm in the beginning of this week for a project kick-off workshop, marking the start of active collaboration across the consortium.

From KIT, the Information Systems IV DPS research group led by Professor Förster at the WIN institute is involved in the development of the interactive explainability component of the EKILED demonstrator. The goal is to enable users to learn from and with the AI system, making AI-supported disinformation detection more transparent and accessible in educational settings.

During the kick-off meeting, representatives from the University of Ulm, Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, KIT, DASU, and Eduversum GmbH aligned on the project's objectives, coordinated initial research activities, and established the foundation for close collaboration over the coming years.

With the consortium now fully mobilized, work on the interactive EKILED demonstrator for schools can begin. The project runs until March 2029 and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
